‘Food truck’ voting units aim at improving Idaho voter turnout

Here’s a news item from the Associated Press: BOISE, Idaho (AP) – Idaho election workers say it’s no longer enough to encourage people to get out to the polls. Instead, it’s time to bring the polls to the people. Ada County Chief Deputy Clerk Phil McGrane says he has designed food truck-inspired voting units to help entice voters to participate in the upcoming election. In the 2012 presidential election, roughly 74 percent of Idaho’s registered voters came out to the polls. The four new trailers will be parked throughout the state’s most populated county in the three weeks leading up to the November election and allow Idahoans to vote early without going to their designated precinct. The first trailer was unveiled Tuesday outside the Ada County’s elections office.
