Republicans agree on climate
Seventeen Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives recently took a bold step that contradicts what some in the Trump administration espouse almost daily. These representatives co-sponsored a resolution (H. Res. 195) publicly acknowledging that “…consequences of a changing climate have the potential to adversely impact all Americans.”
These Republicans represent 10 states, including Florida, where sea level rise is causing problems daily. The resolution calls on the House to take appropriate steps to deal with impacts of climate change, including increases in extreme precipitation and wildfires, in a responsible manner.
These realistic and forward-looking legislators are revitalizing the Republican commitment to the “conservative principle to protect, conserve, and be good stewards of our environment.” By focusing on these traditional conservative values, they are working toward a better future for all of us.
