Loose dogs a problem
Regarding Rich Landers’ March 9 article in the Outdoor section, I absolutely loved it. Loose dogs are huge problem out and about in the area. I am a service dog handler, which means I have a disability requiring the use of the dog and we frequently encounter loose or badly behaved dogs (or badly behaved owners) all over the place.
I too pack a weapon everywhere I go, but I also carry a stun gun in my pocket so that if my dog is attacked I have repercussion without using lethal force. It would be a shame to punish the dog for the owner’s lack of responsibility
Rich Landers did a great job on the article and brought a huge problem to the attention of our community.
For the most part it’s fraudulent service dog teams but our problems with the loose dogs are growing and growing and they threaten our dogs and distract them from their duties. It can be very dangerous for the handler of a service animal when a loose or threatening dog approaches.
