Archives (4/20/92): No joke

25 Years Ago (from the archives of Huckleberries):

Twenty-five years ago today, my print column told of an 8YO boy, named Jeremy, who tried to impress his true love on March 31 by lifting a 300-pound gravestone at Forest Cemetery. The heavy stone crunched him, sending him to the hospital. On the following day, Parks & Cemetery Director Doug Eastwood instructed an employee to call a local mortuary and ask if Myra Mains was ready for burial. Get it? Myra Mains! April Fools! Well, the same employee called back a few hours later to report a tombstone had fallen on a neighborhood kid. S-u-u-u-re, said Doug. He didn’t believe the tale until he read about it in the S-R the following day.

Question: Do you have a loved one buried in Forest Cemetery?
