Cartoon in bad taste
Over the years, I’ve never said a word about political cartoons, despite occasional liberal complaints about a particular conservative cartoonist in an overwhelmingly left leaning Spokesman-Review field. But the cartoon posted on July 21 by Jeff Danziger was so disgusting and disrespectful it deserves some condemnation.
President Trump gave a sincere compliment to the first lady of France, which by the way was not what was printed in the cartoon. Optically, he turned that into an obese, lecherous portrait of the president with beady eyes, small hands and an upside down flag pin, sneering at the smiling first lady and president of France.
Meanwhile, I’m guessing that the angry, baboon looking female next to him is supposed to be our first lady, Melania? Nice. So one couple is happy, smiling and loving, while the other is angry, mad and separated. Anyone else see that in France or just Danziger?
You know, I try to work my way through the obvious left leaning tilt and columnists in your newspaper, but it is becoming more difficult every day. This cartoon was truly offensive, beyond the pale and over the top. Or do you not understand that?
