Searcher: My perspective changed

Searcher (RE: DFO announces retirement ):

“Congratulations to Mrs. O, and you too, of course. It is a bitter sweet ending for all of us. Though I have only been around this space for a couple of years, the community has made it feel like a home that I have belonged to forever. I hope that SR has some great ideas to keep the community going in some way, though there will never be another Huck’s Nation. Your wit and wisdom have brought together a diverse community of voices and opinions that has made a positive contribution to the world we live in. I look at the world outside of the screen differently because of what I learn from my contact with members of the community who have different ideas, attitudes, opinions and experiences. My perspective has changed; my knowledge, understanding and respect of others has grown. Thank you.”

DFO: My perspective has changed, too. When I started this blog, I was the most conservative writer on The Spokesman-Review editorial board. Cartoonist Milt Priggee wants drew me as a Middle Eastern terrorist with a automatic weapon in my hand. The give-and-take of this blog pulled me from Right to Center Right. You can’t have reasoned discussion without being changed. I thank you for being patient with me during the formative years.
