Monroe project a plus

I am writing to express my support for the North Monroe project. As a near lifelong resident of Spokane, I am excited to see this attractive and much needed upgrade to the corridor. I have seen some vocal opposition to this project, but haven’t heard a good reason why or how the project would do permanent harm to business in the area. On the contrary, I have begun to frequent the area because of some of the new businesses. Speaking with the owners or managers of these businesses, I find they support the project as well.

My last reason for support is, perhaps, a preference, but one I believe I share with many Spokane residents. A city should be pleasing to walk, drive or cycle through. And whatever the intentions of the author of the recent Guardian article about Spokane, the author of it highlighted a weakness in, this otherwise, wonderful city. I think that a step toward shedding some of the pervasive industrial feel he panned is a step in the right direction. So, full steam ahead!
