CMR’s silent hypocrisy

Cathy McMorris Rodgers’ silence after Trump’s rants during the Aug. 15 news conference, exposing his true beliefs and support for white supremacists and other hate groups, aligns her with those who she decried on the Aug. 14 KXLY broadcast.

During that interview she said, “Each one of us has responsibility to condemn the kind of people who express these ideals.” So, do it. Condemn Trump and those who do not speak up to condemn him — not just his words, not reinterpret what he was “trying to say,” speak up and stand up to the hatred.

She continued to say, “… Each one of us has a responsibility in our community, our neighborhoods and our families to focus on how we can come together. …”

It’s time to put actions where her mouth is and speak out against hate groups. Her “Peaceful Community Roundtables” are not enough.

I can only wonder if it’s the prospect of losing “dark money” that is enforcing the silence and enforcing repression, divisiveness and hate. Love trumps hate every time. Individuals vote, not corporations, take back the vote from Citizens United. Give us back our voice, our freedom, our country.
