Sanctuary cities beneficial

Your recent article on the anti-immigrant folks pushing to remove sanctuary cities is important. Those of us who want real immigration reform, with harsher punishment for people who hire illegals, restructuring are laws to get more of the people we need (and that’s not just English speakers) and have a arduous path to citizens watch these people decry immigration while refusing to fix the system (remind anyone of their position on the ACA).

Multiple studies have shown sanctuary cities are more likely to seen immigrant communities work with police to find criminals and make thing safer; the opponents use anecdotal evidence as if it’s statistically significant. They point to Kate Steinle’s death to make a false argument. San Francisco’s murder rate has continued to drop since the sanctuary law was passed, and as Mother Jones points out, the city has a far lower murder rate than the non-sanctuary cities of Dallas, Indianapolis, Columbus and others.

The tragic death of Ms. Steinle doesn’t argue against sanctuary cities, if you stick with facts.
