Remember WW II

Let’s call it what it is. White nationalism, white supremacy and alt-right are just euphemisms for the ideology we called Nazism during the 1930s and 1940s. I prefer to think the Nazi ideology was, and is, a moral weakness that suggests that people with black or brown skin, or almond-shaped eyes, or non-Christian religions are inherently inferior to white Christians and are depriving white Christians of their inherent entitlements.

During World War II, a war fought to bring an end to Nazism, some 70 to 85 million people lost their lives, including about 21 million military deaths, about 29 million civilian deaths due to military causes and crimes against humanity, and about 19 million deaths due to famine and disease.

Do we really want to see a revitalization of an ideology that led to that kind of destruction? No! Every one of us must fight against it, and we must do so with more than President Trump’s weak statement criticizing “many sides” of the violence in Charlottesville.

White Christians have no inherent entitlements. They are losing position because they are being outperformed in an increasingly competitive economy by “others” who are better educated and motivated.
