Thomas for school board

Two weeks ago, I did something I never thought I’d do: I voted Republican. I’ve had the privilege of working with Jennifer Thomas, school board candidate, for several months at the anti-trafficking nonprofit, the Jonah Project. I’m utterly convinced of her community-minded enterprise, work ethic and dedication to students, parents and education for everybody, regardless of zip code.

Even prior to her school board run, Jennifer spoke often of the disparities of opportunities between students in lower and higher socioeconomic brackets. I see her bring this dedication to the Jonah Project, as she consistently advocates for preemptive mentoring for students with lower incomes. Bureaucracy means little to Jennifer, because she’ll fight until she has nothing left to give, and then she’ll fight some more to ensure students and parents are the primary beneficiaries of school board decisions.

Truly, the work Jennifer aspires to do has no political party. They’re simply common-sense ideas executed by a compassionate mother of four with seemingly-bottomless work ethic. For that reason, come November, I’ll be voting Republican twice- once again for Jennifer Thomas for Spokane school board.
