Farewell, Rich Landers

Soon after I moved to the Spokane area, I encountered Rich Landers’ writing on the outdoors. It’s not hyperbole to assert that his hiking guides led me to sublime places and amazing adventures. I am certain that this is true for thousands of other people, and I am confident that many share the profound gratitude that I feel toward Mr. Landers.

Our community has been very fortunate to have his talents (he writes a fine sentence), his insight (he knows and loves our region) and his generosity (he tirelessly advocates for environmental and recreation concerns).

I wish him the best and hope that the next leg of his life journey is full of challenging and rewarding days in the woods, on the streams and among the peaks.
