Future of Monroe

Earlier this week I had to make a trip to the county courthouse. I live north of Spokane so my route takes me down Monroe. As I came down the Monroe hill into the business district, there was a bus stopped to pickup passengers in the right lane. I, along with a number of other cars, passed the bus in the left lane. As I continued south, I noticed there were people waiting at all the other bus stops along Monroe.

Can you imagine what a problem it would create if there was only one lane of traffic? Many cars would be stuck behind the bus, not only delaying them but causing pollution as the idled waiting for the bus at every bus stop along the route. How many cars would be backed up behind the bus by the time it reached Indiana?
