Benefits not welfare
U.S. security may be at risk; that’s not my judgment to make.
It is my judgment to make that neither my Social Security benefits nor my Medicare coverage is “welfare.” I and others receiving Social Security have paid into the fund our entire working lives. Those of us covered by Medicare are paying for it now. Columnist Robert Samuelson knows better. If he has a legitimate gripe, it is not about the beneficiaries of those two programs.
