Christmas lights appreciated
As I pulled strings of lights out of the evergreen garland on my picket fence before the next snow storm, I kept thinking, “Thank you, Spokane, for each Christmas light display.” Each year I drive here and there from the farthest reaches of the Valley to the outskirts of Cheney, and I receive so much joy from each effort.
While I wandered through the holiday season, I secretly thanked you for the work you gave to all of us this year as I drove by your displays. From the lowly, bright string across a doorway, the rope lights twining around your railing, the elaborate mish mosh of every possible light and lighted creature, the perfectly lit majestic pine, the blue motif of quiet beauty, the collaborative city montage, to the laser light show complete with traditional lights outlining your home, I love them all.
Each year, I care. I pay attention, and I travel to see what your efforts have given. Your precarious efforts on rickety ladders and even cherry picker trucks all made me and so many more happy.
