Marianne Love/Slight Detour has a message of hope for all her friends, family, former teacher colleagues and generations of students who are upset at the confirmation of Betsy DeVos as President Trump’s Education secretary:
” To all my former students and to my friends and former colleagues in public education: you have been taught to use your minds and the tools you acquired as students and as teachers.
“Continue to do so from this day forth in constructive, influential, even more passionate ways.
“This too, shall pass. Principled, smart and sincere approaches to life’s challenges hit some bumps in the road but eventually produce positive results. Teach well. Learn well. You can make a difference.”
