Levy, bond fundraiser set Monday

The community is invited to Art Spirit Gallery, 415 E. Sherman Avenue on Monday from 4:30-6:30pm for a campaign fundraiser. Funds raised will be used to promote the benefits of voting YES on the Coeur d’Alene School District 271 M&O Levy and Bond on March 14th. Citizens for Coeur d’Alene Public Schools is a non-profit volunteer committee that advocates for funding through local levies and bonds. The group is separate and financially independent from public schools and taxpayer dollars. The school district is running a $16M two-year Maintenance & Operations Levy and a $35.5M Construction Bond without raising the tax rate. The Levy is essential to fund critical programs and education needs beyond the basic funding from the state. By state law, M&O levies expire every two years, thus the district must ask the community for a renewal in order to maintain a high level of service and programming for our students. Early voting begins at the Elections Office 8am-5pm Monday-Friday between February 27, 2017 and March 10, 2017. Mailed absentee ballots must be requested by March 3, 2017. Polls are open 8am-8pm on Tuesday, March 14/ News release, Citizens for Public Schools.
