The Bard’s history — as he recalls it

“Short light poems by “The Bard of Sherman Avenue” began to appear in the Spokane Spokesman-Review print edition in about 2002 and then on the newspaper’s blog site a couple of years later.

“They were published by Dave Oliveria, a senior reporter and member of the paper’s editorial board, in his award winning print column “Hot Potatoes” and eventually in his “Huckleberries” online blog.  Dave selected an accompanying graphic for each poem he posted on the blog.

“Tom Wobker, an attorney and business man in CDA, wrote the verses as a hobby and  emailed them to Oliveria.

“At Oliveria’s suggestion, they decided to keep the author’s identity unknown.  Eventually the anonymity took on a certain life of its own.”
