Java on Sherman is closing doors for good Feb. 15

FlorineD reports in the comments section that she saw a notice on the doors of Java on Sherman today that the long-time downtown coffee shop is closing its doors. Unfortunately, she’s right. A notice on Java’s Facebook wall confirms that Java is closing after a 22-year run downtown, mostly at 4th St & Sherman Ave, where The Vault is now location. The notice invites long-time patrons to a “Java’s Moving On” Party from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday (Feb. 15). The notice didn’t say why Java is closing shop. But it did say that Java’s shop in Hayden will continue to operate. That building at 8th & Sherman has been a death trap for businesses since Wood McEvers’ moved his Rustler’s Roost to Hayden.
