GOP expecting trouble at Lincoln dinner?

In an email circulated to some Kootenai County Republicans Saturday evening, secretary Alex Barron of the GOP Central Committee addresses concerns from some Republicans that the local party’s annual Lincoln Day Dinner might be the target of protests. And assures panicky Republicans that the party has taken extra precautions to deal with any uncivil person at the event Saturday, March 4:

“In face of significant nationwide violence we understand that some of you have concerns regarding possible protests at our events. We would like to assure you that we have taken positive steps to ensure safety and civility.

“This event is on private property and it is not a public meeting and civility will be strictly enforced. Anyone wishing to protest may do so outside on the public road. Anyone wishing to interfere with the rights of others to peacefully assemble will be asked to leave.  We have also arranged for a uniformed Post Falls LEO to be present in addition to our usual security detail.

“I believe it is essential that we not back down from a few bullies and miscreants out to intimidate American citizens and the best way to do that is a show of unity and strength.  We hope to see you all there.”
