Confirmation process OK

Regarding the Feb. 4 letter from the MacPhees (“Murray should resign”): In 2016. Sen. Patty Murray won a fifth term, defeating opponent Chris Vance with 60 percent of the vote. The election is over; she is doing her job.

Yes, we want “everyone in public office to build a better America.” However, Cabinet appointments receive the advice and consent of the Senate as required by the Constitution. Transparent questioning of potential presidential appointees is part of our democratic process.

Since 2001, five presidential nominees have been denied.
