Avista electric rates rise 2.6%

Electric rates for Avista Utilities’ customers in North Idaho went up by an average 2.6 percent effective Jan. 1. The utility originally requested a 6.3 percent increase, but a settlement proposed by Idaho Public Utilities Commission staff, Avista and other parties resulted in the smaller increase. For the residential customer who uses the system’s average of 918 kilowatts per hour, the rate increase is $2.64 per month.
