Sen. Roy Lacey, D-Pocatello, who retired last year after serving two terms in the Senate, is back at the Statehouse this week, filling in for Rep. Elaine Smith, D-Pocatello. Smith is out due to a health issue but is scheduled to be back Monday. Asked if he expected to return to the Capitol so soon, Lacey, who was waiting to take the oath of office in the House speaker’s office, said no. But, he said, “It’s a nice transition.”

All senators are scheduled to be present today; no substitutes have been named there.
