Herb: Let ‘er drip

I ran across a flyer put out by Neil Peck, manager of the Water and sewer department. In it, it asked all members to desist from dripping their faucets during this cold weather emergency.

What we have here is a classic case of differing perspectives. He claimed that the additional waster water was overloading the capacity of the system to handle the volume, due to multiple households dribbling water throughout the below zero temperatures.

There are two issues here. First, in the design and maintenance of the sewer system, there should have been an additional capacity planned for  in the case of extreme weather.

The other, is the duty of all homeowners and renters to safeguard their domiciles from serious damage due to frozen pipes that eventually thaw, causing  severe damage to these homes/ Herb Huseland , Bay Views. More here.
