My 2 Cents: Did trustees overdo it?

I’m trying to read between the lines re: “no” vote by Coeur d’Alene School Trustee Christa Hazel on the vote to float a $35.5 million bond for much-needed district building expansion. I know Christa supports these projects. But I wonder if she’s worried that the bond, coupled with the $32M supplemental levy vote on the same March ballot might doom one or both measures. I can see where the Tea Party opportunists in this town might use the ha-huge combined price tag on the two measures to run a ticket of uber-conservatives in May in an attempt to re-gain lost seats. Who can forget the one-term disaster of the Coeur d’Alene School Board under the total rule of uber-conservatives 6 years ago. Now, some of the current board who were elected four years ago are facing re-election, including Hazel. It’ll be interested to see if the GOP Central Committee under the leadership of former, appointed Coeur d’Alene trustee Brent Regan will steer clear of nonpartisan politics. I won’t hold my breath/ DFO.
