Back off health care

So, you’re celebrating the Republican majority in the U.S. Congress? You think Cathy McMorris-Rodgers and Raul Labrador represent you? Perhaps nobody you know needs Social Security or Medicare. Both programs are in jeopardy.

A primary agenda item of this Congress is to “privatize” Medicare. This means returning health care decisions to corporations, whose sole interest is making a profit. They don’t care if people die. This GOP Congress plans to cut Social Security benefits. Surely you know someone who needs Social Security or who may need it later, but you voted for this.

Congress is repealing the Affordable Care Act. Your vote will cost lives when people are denied health care.

Medicaid: The Republicans will cut this program, too, which provides medical care to the poorest citizens. Sounds good to you? Women’s health: This Congress will eliminate Planned Parenthood funds, making access to contraception and cancer screening less available.

Apparently you are in perfect health, as is everyone you know. If not, I suggest you lose those extra pounds, start exercising, eat way more veggies, avoid accidents, and learn to endure pain and sickness.

Or, you could tell your representative to leave health care programs alone.
