Beyond Coughing
Huckleberry Friend Shelly Robins Zollman, of Coeur d’Alene, executive director of the North Idaho Family Group, offers her definition for a mega-cough that takes on a life of its own:
Carf (kärf, verb; gerund or present participle: carfing): 1. When you cough so hard, mucus happens and chokes you and the standard “cough” sound turns into more of a gaggy/phlegm-riddled/dry heave sound that is very unpleasant to the cougher and those within earshot. …”
