Why I’m marching
Today I will march for women’s rights. I will march because women deserve more than being demeaned and objectified by their leaders. I will march to show Donald Trump that his divisive rhetoric does not represent my values as an American, and he will not bully me into silence and inaction.
Trump is a demagogue who proselytizes a movement to exalt men at the expense of women, white at the expense of color and ignorance at the expense of curiosity. I demand more from my president, and I will march to show him my disappointment.
I will march to let the world know in no uncertain terms that I am here, I vote, and I care about women’s rights. I care about those rights regardless of a woman’s race, ethnicity, religion, immigration status, sexual identity, gender expression, economic status, age, appearance or disability.
This is a march for everyone, men, women and anyone in-between, who have felt unnerved by the implications of a Trump presidency. I’m not for unity and compromise with Donald’s ignorance, greed and contempt. I’m marching and resisting. I hope you’ll join me.
