Clapper has been wrong
In reference to Trudy Rubin’s Jan. 11 column: Everyone has the right to their opinion based on their beliefs, education and research. However, Rubin has made it clear that her opinion regarding James Clapper, the director of national intelligence, and the numerous “intelligence” agencies in this country are worthy of praise. Allow me to disclose a different opinion based on some facts.
Clapper stated to Congress that the NSA was not spying on U.S. citizens. Not surprisingly, we now know that was a blatant lie. Has he been charged and arrested for that felony? Do we know that he’s not lying now? The excuse given is that our national security would be compromised. My research paints a different picture in that they are causing more harm than good. The intelligence we receive from these agencies has been very wrong before. WMDs in Iraq being just one example.
Uninformed opinions only serve to corrupt and confuse the public, and people are beginning to count on alternative media and their own research to find the truth. Any wonder that mainstream media is being exposed for controlling the narrative, and that they could be guilty of spreading fake news.
