SBA nominee McMahon, called a ‘tenacious fighter,’ says ‘it’s not how you fall but how you get up’

There were plenty of fight-related terms being thrown around as Linda McMahon, new President Trump’s nominee to head the Small Business Administration, and co-founder and former CEO of WWE, World Wrestling Entertainment Inc., had her confirmation hearing today in the Senate Small Business & Entrepreneurship Committee, whose new chairman is Idaho Sen. Jim Risch.

“She is a tireless leader and a tenacious fighter,” said Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., who defeated McMahon in a Senate race in 2010, and who helped introduce her to the committee. He was joined by Sen. Christopher Murphy, D-Conn., who defeated McMahon in 2012 to win his seat, who noted that some might be surprised to see the three of them together after watching them “duke it out” in two Senate races. “Politics can’t work if political grudges never die,” Murphy said. “Political adversaries have to find a way to work together.” He added, “Listen, I saw first-hand the fight that Linda brings to any endeavor she takes on.”

Risch, in his opening comments, said, “The regulatory structure of the government in America today is strangling businesses.”

McMahon, in her testimony, said in part, “Small businesses have had some tough blows in the past decade. I know what it’s like to take a hit, and I have learned it’s not how you fall, but it’s how you get up that truly matters.”
