Draft would curtail wars

The draft ended in 1973. I am a Vietnam-era veteran opposed to these endless wars, but I am convinced conscription of the middle and upper classes is the only way to end and prevent our foolish wars of choice.

Note: The Clintons, no child in military, Bill dodged the draft. The Reagans, no child in military, Reagan served. The Bushes, no child in military, Bush picked the Texas Air National Guard to avoid Vietnam. The Cheneys, no child in military, Dick dodged the draft five times. The Obamas, no child in military, Obama did not serve. The Trumps, no child in military, Trump dodged five times. Most of Congress today, never served, no children in military. Movie stars, football stars, basketball stars, the famous do not serve.

The danger of such immoral inequality to the republic is obvious. So long as the leaders have no personal stake in these senseless wars, the mayhem will continue. My wife and I are adamantly opposed to these mindless wars of choice because they are both pointless and immoral. Our own young lieutenant son is now serving in the Middle East.
