The rich need customers

Again, it seems, Republicans are shafting the 99 percent. They believe they have a good reason. They are practicing the theory of trickle-down economics. They believe if you give the rich tax breaks and even give them free money, then the rich can then create more jobs for the 99 percent and everyone will be happy.

The problem with the theory is it doesn’t take into account that the 99 percent are the customers of the rich. If you make the things harder on the 99 percent, like taking away Medicaid, passing a gas tax and creating other ways to get more money from the 99 percent, some will not be able to buy the products of the rich. When that happens, the rich have only have two choices. They can lower the prices of their products, which will not make the rich richer, or the can lower production.

If the rich lower production, they will have to lay off employees. Laying off employees will cause fewer people to buy the products of the rich, which will cause the rich to lay off more employees. Soon, not enough people will buy their products.
