Rich Dems pay, support taxes

Rod Foss’ letter (“Set example rich liberals,” June 11) facetiously asks the Democrat elite to put their money where their mouths are. They already pay taxes for the common good, an alien concept to rich Republicans, who lobby constantly for their tax breaks as much as Detroit Piston Isaiah Thomas whined at the referees. Pelosi, Buffett, Gates, Soros, Ellison, Oprah, Meryl Streep, Ellen DeGeneres, and Michael Moore all favor educated and well-paid employees, pro-science government, absence of war, green technologies, immigration and respect for race and sexual orientation.

Voting Democrat is worth the return on their investments and an extra $10,000 in taxes. Their media are KSPS, Huffington Post, NPR, BBC, CNN and The Washington Post. Otherwise, we get a con man Trump anointed by the religious right minions of Fox News and the Koch brothers despite not having an ounce of integrity or morality.

Pastor Boyd’s “The Myth of a Christian Nation: How the Quest for Political Power Is Destroying the Church” argues that poverty and war and not drawing the ladder up once you earn riches are as much life issues as abortion. Andrew Carnegie, industrialist and philanthropist author of “The Gospel of Wealth,” famously said “One who dies rich, dies disgraced.”
