CMR accurate about media

Regarding Ms. Gobel’s criticism of Cathy McMorris Rodgers’ comments on MSNBC (July 4 letter), one only has to look at news headlines to see the media’s bent toward the left. They are slanted and support the left’s efforts to obstruct and resist. That was the goal stated by the left after November’s election.

Most media companies are based in large, urban populations, which are left-leaning. The surprise for them is that the middle of the country heard President Trump’s message. That had no bearing on the interpretation the media gives to anything “Trump.” They are counting on, “Once said, it becomes the truth.” Many Hollywood celebrities feel their words will convince us to ignore positives and celebrate negatives. They use their platform, even though they have no credibility, because many put celebrity on a pedestal.

CMR would be the first to stand in support of a free press. Her statements are correct. I am sure our First Amendment authors could not see how the media would be so politically manipulative in politics. Everyone, left and right, needs to be discerning. Too much is at stake to play the obstruction game. The climate in the U.S. is beyond checks and balances; it has become arrogant, rude and definitely dangerous to our moving ahead.
