Regressive conservatives

Sue Lani Madsen reports that “Fix the Debt”, supposedly a bipartisan group, warns that we must control the costs of Medicare and Medicaid. In a recent NPR interview the president of “Fix the Debt” claims the “fastest drivers of the debt come from old people and their health care costs.” Never mind unfunded wars. Meanwhile the Senate Republican health bill features a tax cut for the top 3 percent of households. So, tax cuts for the rich on the backs of the old and the poor.

Idaho’s governor, Butch Otter, wants no more innocent DACA children in Idaho.

Trump wants to repeal the ACA immediately. Maybe replace it later. Of the 23 million people who will no longer have health insurance, I wonder how many voted for him. Will they understand why they were thrown under the bus? Most interesting is that states that have benefited the most from federal subsidies for Medicaid are often Republican.

A thought: within our Idaho Democratic world are “progressive liberals.” Do the Republicans have “regressive conservatives”?
