Archives: Out, out, damn skaters

In my Huckleberries column 25 years ago (July 20, 1992):

Would life have turned out differently for Coeur d’Alene Councilwoman Nancy Sue Wallace if she hadn’t fallen off a skateboard at age 7 and broken an ankle? She might have grown up as a skate punk listening to subculture music, like Red Hot Chili Peppers, and had an attitude. Instead, she married an attorney, learned to golf, and laugh at Mayor Ray Stone’s rimshots. Now she makes wise decisions for the little people, like ordering their skateboards out of City Park.
