Good call on Alexander

I want to commend The Spokesman for its recent endorsement of Kathryn Alexander for City Council (Position 2, District 1). This shows independence of thought since the Democratic Party has totally backed Kate Burke. Burke has experience working in political office at the state level but little experience at the local level. She is young and has lots of time to learn and run for future office. Alexander has more experience and demonstrated commitment at the local level plus the wisdom of decades of work in organizational and community development.

It is always nice to see a newspaper endorse independent candidates. I, myself, am a lifelong Democrat and support Kathryn Alexander. I recommend her for what is supposed to be a nonpartisan position.
