Burke’s been here longer

Although Kathryn Alexander herself is straightforward about her background, some of the letters have been misleading. They imply that Kathryn has more experience at the local level than Kate Burke. In fact, Kate Burke has lived in Spokane her entire life, and Kathryn just moved to Washington state three years ago.

Being from outside the state is not bad in itself, as someone from elsewhere has a different perspective that could be helpful in solving local problems. For her supporters to say that Kathryn has more experience at the local level, however, is not so.

Kate has been a legislative assistant to the 3rd Legislative District’s state senator, Andy Billig, and a large part of her job has been handling constituent requests from people in that district. This service is also an important aspect of a City Council representative’s work.

Regardless of how you vote, people, do it for the right reasons.
