The Slice: Let’s give a rousing Spokane welcome to …

So let’s say you’ll be attending a few concerts this summer.

Maybe the performers are familiar to you. Perhaps they’re not.

But here’s a question. What do you hope to experience at the shows?

I have provided a few choices.

A) Megatons of nostalgia. B) Tears of joy. C) Startling arousal.

D) Nirvana. E) To be entertained. F) I want to be transported out of myself to a place of romance, natural fibers and people who always say the right thing.

G) I want the music to remind me how I felt the first time I saw her from across the room. H) I want to feel languid and bittersweet. I) I want to be made to feel like dancing, even though I wouldn’t actually dance even if you held a gun on me.

J) I hope to stay awake. K) I want to hear the band and not my seatmates loudly singing along with every song. L) Easy access to the restrooms.

M) A seating situation that won’t leave me numb from the waist down for the rest of the night. N) Hearing my concert companion say, “Thank you so much for inviting me, I am having a lovely time.” O) To be recognized from the stage as the inspiration for the song they are about to perform.

P) Getting a mile high from second-hand marijuana smoke. Q) Raised consciousness and good value for my entertainment dollar. R) Temporary deafness.

S) A feeling of gnawing ennui. T) Peace, love and understanding. U) Outrageous happiness.

V) A stirring sensation deep down inside. W) Deja vu. X) The urge to shake that groove thing.

Y) The desire to go home and get the band back together. Z) Other.

Warm-up question: What were the circumstances when an impressively large insect flew into your mouth?

A) Riding my bike. B) Riding my motorcycle. C) I was rounding third and heading home. D) Going off a diving board.

E) I was camping. F) I was on a sailboat. G) Skateboarding. H) Skydiving.

I) Sticking my head out a car window like a dog. J) I was water-skiing. K) I was sleeping in a backyard hammock. L) Other.

Today’s Slice question: Ever been to a concert at which you felt like you might possibly be the oldest or youngest person there?
