Still not colorblind

Ah, Spokane!

Just when you thought that maybe it wasn’t basically a redneck town with pockets of intelligent life, you have the recent acquittal of Edward Bushnell in the shooting death of William Poindexter. Maybe someplace else it would be difficult to find 12 people who think that shooting a man in the back while he’s walking away from you, when you have a gun and he doesn’t, is not a cowardly act and a crime. Apparently not in Spokane. Oh wait! Poindexter was black, and he wasn’t a nice guy! Well that justifies everything.

So welcome to Spokane, where if you’re a person of color, you can eventually be a parade queen or play basketball at GU, as long as you don’t run afoul of the law. Ah, but if you’re white, it seems that justice isn’t colorblind after all.
