Protesting too much

We’re hearing lots of noise and complaints from Trump about “fabricated lies.” If there’s “no there there,” he should be glad to get everything out in the open. To paraphrase that famous gentleman, Shakespeare: “Methinks the POTUS doth protest much.” What could this mean?
