Constituents have varied views

We keep seeing letters saying that “health care is a right” and thus should be provided to us by the government, especially for those who “can’t afford it.” Okay, so is bearing arms. Where are my government-supplied guns and ammo? What these people do not understand is a right requires responsibility. Sure you do have a right to anything you can afford to buy. No one should be able to refuse you access if you can pay.

We also see letters decrying the fact that Cathy McMorris Rodgers “doesn’t represent all her constituents.” Okay then, tell us just how one goes about serving people who believe government should take care of their every need and those of us who just want government to get out of our way and only do what the Constitution requires of it? Shouldn’t Cathy first be beholding to those who voted for her and then if the rest get what they want too that’s just an added bonus?

After all, those of us who did not vote for the “first black president” simply to be historical had to live with Obama’s decisions, even though they were 100 percent contrary to our needs and desires.
