Drug prices need transparency

Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers should author a bill that allows Medicare and Medicaid to negotiate prices with Big Pharma. Congress requires the VA negotiate drug prices for veterans; work to make it law for Medicare and Medicaid.

Create transparency in drug pricing. Drug patents allow virtual monopolies for 20 years. Require drug companies to justify to the American public before charging thousands of dollars for a drug. We are the only developed country in the world to allow such “outrageous prices,” as President Trump put it? There is no transparency, and Congress allows Big Pharma to run completely unchecked. Price gouging forces people to choose between life or death when they can’t afford drugs.

Allow importation of drugs. Lifesaving drugs are less expensive if allowed to be imported. Help break the monopoly of Big Pharma.

Enact legislation to erect a wall to block the flow of big money between drug companies and doctors. Limit money doctors can take from drug companies when they push drugs by that company. Allow drug companies to share documented results, effectiveness of the drug and costs both with and without insurance. Require separation so doctors can decide what is best for the patient.
