Service deaths underplayed

I am writing to express my anger at the editor’s choice of what appears to minimize the sacrifices of American servicemen by reporting the death of three U.S. servicemen in Afghanistan on page 6 of the June 11 edition, and the choice of putting the article next to a picture of Moammar Gadhafi’s son giving what appears to be a Nazi salute.

The death of any American service man or woman put in harm’s way by our government should not be trivialized by “hiding” the announcement deep within the paper’s narratives. There appears to be ample room for reporting the deaths on the front page in the space chosen to show a picture of “The Quintessential Inland Northwest Backyard.” It appears the editor thinks the back yard is more important than servicemen dying.

Please consider reporting the death of any active service man or woman on the front page so we are constantly reminded of the sacrifices by them and their families.
