Sad snorkeling adventure

Whatever the cause is of global warming, the consequences are alarming to see up close. I just returned from a once-in-a-lifetime vacation where the shallow water coral is dead. Snorkeling at a remote UNESCO World Heritage dive site was like being dropped into a black and white movie: no color, no fish, no sea fans or scallops. The dolphins are gone. Incredibly depressing to see.

And then I come home to hear that our president has withdrawn from the Paris Climate Accord, a voluntary, nonbinding agreement.

French Polynesia still hasn’t completely recovered from the 2008 financial crash — a drop in tourism could devastate them economically. What is the point? Just so sad.
