Rape suspect turns himself in
Update (from Taylor Viydo/KREM 2 via Twitter): “Bruna’s bond remains at $220,000. According to jail records, he’s charged w/2 counts of rape. One victim under age of 18.”
Coeur d’Alene Police Officers are no longer searching for Steven Garrett Bruna, 20. Coeur d’Alene Police Officers, working with the U.S. Marshal Service, contacted members of Bruna’s family along with his attorney and Bruna turned himself in to the Kootenai County Jail. Bruna was booked for two counts of rape. Bruna was wanted for the sexual assault of two female victims at his residence during the early morning hours of March 2, 2017. Bruna’s first court appearance will be Monday, March 6, 2017.
On March 2, Coeur d’Alene Police Officers were contacted by a female who said she was with Bruna earlier that morning. Shortly after she arrived at Bruna’s residence, Bruna took the victim to his bedroom where he forcibly raped her. The victim was able to leave the residence with minor injuries.
During the course of the investigation, Coeur d’Alene Police Detectives contacted a second female who had also been at Bruna’s residence during the early morning hours of March 2, 2017. The second victim reported a similar encounter with Bruna earlier in the night/ Coeur d’Alene Police Department news release.
