Fund caregivers contract

I am one of the tens of thousands of home care workers who are professional caregivers working hard to provide safe quality care to our vulnerable elderly and disabled clients. But we live paycheck to paycheck, many of us in poverty struggling to pay our bills.

The Legislature is now deciding whether to fund our new contract, which will gradually raise wages for home care aides to $15 an hour. This will help us keep doing this work and support our own families just like we support our vulnerable clients.

I urge my legislators to support the thousands of caregivers and the clients we care for here in Northeast Washington and across the state by funding our contract and helping to lift us out of poverty.
