Lady Zags run past Saint Mary’s 86-75 to win WCC tourney

Jill Barta scored a career-high 37 points and the Gonzaga women toppled third-seeded Saint Mary’s 86-75 on Tuesday to win the West Coast Conference tournament title, the Zags’ first since 2014.

The win also secured Gonzaga an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament that begins next week.

The Zags got two quick layups by Laura Stockton and a jumper from Barta and opened a quick 8-0 lead and led 32-15 after the first quarter.

Barta had 22 points in the first half alone, nine fewer than the entire Saint Mary’s team at intermission/ Whitney Ogden , SR. More here .
