Rep. Nate tries to call Rep. Rubel’s resolution on hearing bills out of Ways & Means

Rep. Ron Nate, R-Rexburg, has just formally asked for the House to call House Resolution 1 out of the Ways & Means Committee, under House Rule 45. That’s the proposal from Rep. Ilana Rubel, D-Boise, to require that any bill that has at least 10 legislative co-sponsors, including five from each party, be guaranteed a hearing.

Rep. Robert Anderst, R-Nampa, chairman of the Ways & Means Committee, moved to excuse the committee, meaning the bill wouldn’t be called. That’s a motion that requires only a simple majority to pass.
