Give politics a rest

Imagine, if you will, a world where politics isn’t discussed on a per-minute basis. Imagine, too, that people – on average – lead happier lives because they aren’t inundated with political coverage. The news is there to inform and emphasize, to the fullest extent, every story they publish.

This isn’t a 200-word bashing of the media, or those glued to it. Rather, it’s a call to remember as long as you draw in air, you can find peace and happiness. In the darkest hours of life, there’s always a little light.

Now, I could wax on about biblical and historical figures that would prove my point, but none of those examples are living. Their words might fall flat; mine might just as well. But I’m willing to take the chance.

Instead of watching a news outlet or searching current happenings by morning light - don’t. Don’t bother with it first thing out of the gate. Give it a week. After the week is over, run down the mental list of how those days differed from the ones you started with politics. Now, smile.
